I’ve been living in Spain for the past three years and when I made the move, I knew I wanted to be here long term. I didn’t know how things would pan out but I’ve been beyond blessed during my time so far. But what I’m about to share, I could have never imagined when I touched down in my new home country.
To be honest, even a year ago I wouldn't have imagined this happening.
You see, a year ago around this time, I made a decision to invest in my future. I went on a 7-day retreat in Javea, Spain to join the Digital Nomad Girls community at Sun and Co (a co-living space for entrepreneurs, remote workers, and digital nomads).
I could never have imagined how much that one decision would affect my life in such a short amount of time. The DNG community led to amazing relationships, travels, and an amazing support system while Javea turned into my new favorite Spanish town to visit.
In less than a year, I found myself continuously going back there where I was surrounded by the brilliant people at Sun and Co and it was a place that sparked a fire in me.
Well, I’ve been sitting on this news for months but in a few weeks, I will be moving to Javea to work at Sun and Co full-time doing communications and marketing for the team.
Yes, you heard right. I’m moving and I’ve been hired full-time by a phenomenal Spanish company.
To be honest, I have to continuously remind myself that this isn’t a dream. So many people move abroad and believe that teaching English has to be the end of their story but so much more is out there. While I was living in New York I was working full-time doing communications and community management for a branding firm and I absolutely loved it but I left because I wasn't living the kind of lifestyle that I wanted. When I moved to Spain, for the past three years I've been working hard on my personal life and creating a balanced life. Little did I know that I'd be able to jump back into work in my field while living here.
A while ago, I wrote a post on doing things that challenge you and why it helps to leave your comfort zone. This is exactly what I’m doing.
You see, if you know me, you know that I’ve been living in Murcia for the past 3 years and I am overly obsessed with the city. It’s my home and for a while, I couldn’t imagine myself living anywhere else. But, there is something so special about the small beachside town and the amazing community that I found at Sun and Co. Not to mention, the endless personal and professional growth that you experience while there.
So, in a few weeks, I’ll be leaving my apartment in Murcia to head to the coast and settle down in Javea to start a dream job, in this dreamy country that I have so much love for.
Could I have ever imagined this a year ago?
Not at all, but I couldn’t be happier that I took a chance on myself this time last year, that led to so many amazing experiences that brought me to where I am now.
