Six Week Sprints — How To Start Reaching Your True Potential

Six Week Sprints — How To Start Reaching Your True Potential

It’s time we start thinking differently about time.

Imagine what life would look like if you gave 100% or even 85% of what you know you could? I’m not talking about the hustle phenomenon or not sleeping but I’m talking about the choices we make in our everyday lives.

Reflections on Growth: Three Ways 2015 Has Changed Me For The Better

As the year comes to an end, it brings us to a space of reflection. It’s an opportunity to better understand our experiences through a wider lens and it also allows us to see how we want to grow in the coming days, weeks and months. 2015 has been a revolutionary year in many different ways and I’m continuously grateful to where life has brought me as well as, where it is going.

While planning for 2016 has been well underway, I wanted to share three important ways that I've grown in the past year.

SELF-LOVE

In 2015, I’ve put a heavy emphasis on self-love and acceptance. It has made a meaningful impact in my life and I am constantly realizing that when you take the necessary steps towards healing, everything else seems to fall into place. Sometimes, we need to put the same focus on loving and appreciating ourselves that we do on the ones around us.

For me, this has manifested in many ways.

Learning to apologize less.

Taking better care of my body by being conscious of what I consume.

Staying active and doing things that I love.

Learning to saying no more.

Respecting my sensitivity.

Surrounding myself with people who accept me for who I am.

WORK/LIFE BALANCE + PROFESSIONAL GROWTH

Many of us struggle with our work/life balances and some might even say that it doesn’t exist. I’ll be real, when I’m passionate about something; I work very hard at it. I used to think that meant, long days and constantly being connected to my computer but my mindset has changed. Since moving to Spain, I’ve been able to create a fulfilling life where work and play are becoming synonymous as time goes by.

I’ve been blessed with the growth of LMDES in the past year. I've also been humbled by the recognition in major publications like Huffington Post, Black Enterprise and JetSet Times. With each step forward that I take professionally, I continue to grow for myself, my team and those who look to me for inspiration. Both living abroad and my work dedication has allowed for me to have a freedom that was unimaginable two years ago.

TRAVEL

In 2015, I’ve traveled more than ever both for work and recreation… again, it has really become one and the same. With each trip, I continue to learn about myself through the world around me. Having the freedom to travel is a luxury that I am constantly grateful for.

The most memorable trips of 2015 were

Porto, Portugal

Porto was so special because it was my first solo trip, during a time in my life when I really needed it. It was a chance to escape, explore and understand the beauty of treating yourself.

Mallorca, Balearic Islands

Mallorca was amazing because it was the first opportunity that I had to drive in Europe, never the less, see some of the most amazing mountain and ocean views of my life. It was a breathtaking and relaxing trip and was also so special because it was the first LMDES team retreat.

Naples, Italy

I recently returned from Naples, Pompeii and Sorrento with my family and it was such a moving trip. Being able to share the gift of travel and experience new things with the ones you love the most makes a trip unforgettable.

How have you grown in 2015 and what are you looking forward to most in the weeks to come?

The Kind Of Love That You Deserve

You deserve someone who will inspire you — someone who will trust you enough to provide you with space to grow. You deserve someone who pushes you to understand yourself, to be unashamed and courageous.

I wrote this piece almost two years ago and since then, it's been widely shared in major publications like The Good Men Project and Elite Daily. Every time that I run into this piece, it still rings true and so I thought I'd share it with all of you in hopes that it reaches someone when they need it.

Sometimes it’s easy to settle and forget the kind of love that you deserve. This is a letter for me, for you and for anyone who might need a reminder of what that kind of love looks like — what you are worth.

You deserve more than someone who shifts to the other side of the bed, leaving you dreading the thought of morning, a reminder that intoxicated desire looks different a few hours later when the sun has risen.

You deserve someone who wants to wake up to touch that place on your face where the sun seeps through the blinds and lands on your cheek.

You deserve someone who tells you how beautiful you are while you’re sleeping, when you’re mad, when you cry during your favorite movie even though you’ve seen it a thousand times.

You deserve someone who appreciates you for who you are. You deserve someone who asks to keep the lights on so that he or she can admire you at all times.

You deserve someone who doesn’t agree with you all the time, but when you argue, it feels as if you’re pushing each other to be your best selves.

You deserve someone who wants to sit down and talk with you until dusk turns to dawn about new beginnings, desires and the unknown. Someone who knows that the touch of warm skin sometimes says more than a thousand conversations could.

You deserve someone who is just as independent and driven as you are — if not more so. You deserve someone who will inspire you — someone who will trust you enough to provide you with space to grow.

You deserve someone who pushes you to understand yourself, to be unashamed and courageous.

You deserve what is best for you, which looks different than what anyone else has. Although you’ll have to jump some hurdles, fight tears and endure nights alone to get there, when you finally stumble upon what you do deserve, from there, the rest won’t matter. Have faith that it will come when the time is right. You deserve it.

Love,

Someone who cares

Photo Sessions: Sculptor + Artist ZeroAnodino

It's been a while since I've had time to do many photo sessions so of course, I was excited to collaborate with plastic artist, ZeroAnodino, for a fun shoot. It was a fantastic way to play around with different minimal concepts encapsulating the variety of his work as both a painter and sculptor.

If you're in the area, be sure to to attend a workshop that he'll be leading on July 15th and be sure to follow his other projects and research

Weekend Vibes: A Beach Getaway

This past weekend, a friend of mine was in town which was the perfect excuse to explore a bit and go to the beach. We made our way to Los Alcazares and spent some time by the ocean. Of course, the water is where I feel most at home so I was in my element. It was nice to take a little break and relax as I get ready for the school year to end. This next month will be a beautiful whirlwind with an upcoming trip to Berlin and a really exciting initiative happening with Las Morenas de España.

PS. Check out our fun little promo video I put together!. Can't wait to share more.
